Fifty's the new Thirty
January 7, 2010

The ceiling above the Instant Classic theatre opens wide and confetti rains down on all the filmgoers. This comic marks 50 updates in a row on a seven-comics-per-week schedule! Enjoy it while you can. Perhaps I'll make it to a hundred? Who knows?! I honestly have no idea how long Part 5 is going to be.

Today's comic is also very special to me because with updating as frequently as I am, I can finally tie some of these story threads. Man, so this is what being a storyteller is like. I'd almost forgotten.

On the subject of today's comic - "Heaven Forty Seven" is an old joke from myself and Mike. Somehow, as things tend to, our continuous line of jokes ended up with an idea that an airplane would find itself lost and run into heaven, mowing down angels in its path. And at that moment, it was the funniest thing anyone had ever come up with. Mike even did a short animation about it called "Seven Forty Heaven". Did I steal his title for it? Or did I make it my own. You'll be the judge. (Or I guess... Mike will be. As soon as he wakes up and reads this. Uh oh.)

I'll make it up to him. Speaking of Mike, for the past three weeks, I've been moonlighting at the technocolorist and designer for his holiday story "The Afternoon Before Chanukah" (the link goes to the first page). This is one of my favorite things Mike has ever written and now that it's wrapped up (and now that all the people who read webcomics are back home and reading again), I share it with you now. He wrote and provided the art for it, I made it shimmer.
